TRAFFIC WARNING
The Sheffield Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 12th April. There will be many local road closures in Sheffield from early on Sunday morning but the area immediately around Ponds Forge isn’t affected. Nevertheless, please plan your route and allow plenty of time to get to the venue and park.
Sheffield Half Marathon Road Closures
Among the road closures are Arundel Gate 4am-2pm; Pinstone Street between Surrey Street and Cross Burgess Street 4am-2pm; Norfolk Street 4am-4pm; Surrey Street 4am-4pm; Charles Street between Arundel Gate and Pinstone Street 4am-4pm; Union Street 4am-4pm; Furnival Gate northbound 8.30am-11am; Furnival Gate South southbound 4am-4pm; Charter Square 8.30am-1.30pm; Charter Row eastbound 8.30am-1.30pm and Charter Row westbound 8.30am-11am.
Away from the city centre, the closures include Ecclesall Road between A61 Ring Road and Brocco Bank 8am-1pm and between Brocco Bank and between Brocco Bank and Ecclesall Road South 8.45am-1pm; Ecclesall Road South 8.45am-12.30pm; Knowle Lane 9am-11.15am; Ringinglow Road between Knowle Lane and Fulwood Lane 9am-11.30am; Sheephill Road 9.15am-11.30am; Hathersage Road between Stony Ridge Road and Limb Lane 9.15am-11.30am; Limb Lane 9.15am-11.45am.
The A621 and A57 will remain open throughout the event as an alternative to the A625 Ecclesall Road/Ecclesall Road South.
AGE GROUPS
The age groups are: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & Over.
Age as of December 31st 2015
EVENTS
All events will be heat declared winners and will consist of 50m, 100m, & 200m all four strokes, 400m Freestyle, 200m & 400m IM.
AWARDS
Awards will be given to the top three placed swimmers in each age group in each individual event.
In addition to the individual event awards there will be the following overall awards:
A Top Team award.
A Best Supported Team award.
Top three Boy/Girl awards in each of the following ages:-
10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15/over years Boys using BAGCATs
10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15/over years Girls using BAGCATs
Note these will be British Age Group Categories based on FINA points
The overall awards will be calculated as follows:
Top Boy / Girl
FINA points will be calculated for all swims. These points will be accumulated into the appropriate British Age Group Category for each individual year age. The overall top three swimmers in each of these BAGCATs will receive a Top Boy/Girl award.
Top Team Event points will be scored for all events
The scoring will be: 1st 6 points, 2nd 5 points, 3rd 4 points, 4th 3 points, 5th 2 points 6th 1 point
Event points will be accumulated for all swimmers (from all age groups) for each Club. The overall Top Club will receive a Trophy.
Best Supported Team
This award will be made at the discretion of the promoters.
